Replacing Toilet Tank Mechanism. The flapper valve is the mechanism inside your toilet tank that controls the flush. Special thank to ctol1 for his help in this video.
Most toilet tank parts correspond to a general standard. Just remember to match it with the toilet manufacturer and model so that the installation will go seamlessly. I have to replace a toilet tank that has cracked down the entire side.
Another potentially troublesome mechanism is the ball cock, which is responsible for filling the toilet tank.
A constantly leaking toilet tank can easily drive anyone insane. Mop up the water that remains in the bottom with a sponge, then disconnect the water supply. Rotate the toilet shutoff valve counterclockwise to shut off the water, then empty the tank by holding down the flush handle. Replacing a toilet tank is not necessarily fun, but it is not a difficult task either.
